Annual Conference Report
Annual Conference Report
Andrew Sentance and Evan Davis opened this year's conference with somewhat differing takes on the global recovery.
This year's stellar line up of conference speeches began with BoE Deputy Governor Ben Broadbent's defence of monetary policy.
Focus switched to the public finances as Robert Chote, chairman of the Office of Budget Responsibility, took to the podium.
Fulcrum's Gavyn Davies spoke after the coffee break about the outlook for the European and US economies, where policy and growth expectations were diverging.
Stephanie Flanders, JP Morgan's Chief Market Strategist for Europe, was the next to speak and began by looking at the IMF's recent downward revisions to growth in Europe and the BRICs - but not the US.
Our final speaker of the day was Jeffrey Currie, Head of Commodities Research at Goldman Sachs.
