SBE Annual Conference

The 2011 Annual Conference will be held on the morning of 9 June 2011.
Full details will be available nearer the time but we are delighted to announce that Dr Charles I Plosser, President and CEO, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia will be our Keynote Speaker.
Institute Of Economic Affairs - The State Of The Economy Conference
Against a backdrop of ongoing change in the global economic landscape, leading business figures and academics will have plenty to debate as they deliver their forecasts at the IEA's The State of the Economy conference, now in its 28th year.
The event will be held on 17th February 2011 at the Institute of Directors, and SBE members quoting the reference code SBE11 can benefit from a 10% discount on the registration fee.

International Consultant Economists Association
Dr Emma Mawdsley of Newnham College Cambridge will speak on Changing global development: insights from Gift Theory on Tuesday 8 February 2011, and Costas Mitropoulos will speak on The financial crisis facing Greece on Thursday 24 March 2011.

SBE Master Class

Richard O'Brien, Outsights Ltd "Scenarios for the Future"
At a time at which economic forecasting is as challenging as it has ever been, the SBE is pleased to announce its seventh Masterclass. Richard O'Brien, Outsights Ltd, will lead this session on "Scenarios for the future
- how scenario thinking can enhance economic forecasting". The Masterclass will be held on Wednesday 6 April 2011 12pm-2pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Richard is the co-founding partner of Outsights and the author of the best-selling book "Global Financial Integration: the End of Geography". He a leading futurist and international financial economist with more than 35 years' of experience of helping organisations anticipate and manage the future. Richard pioneered the art of country risk analysis with Rothschilds and as chief economist and executive director of American Express Bank, also advising the World Bank, the EBRD and the Group of 30.

The Society's annual Salary Survey provides an authoritative guide to levels of and trends in the remuneration of business economists. Please take a few minutes to complete the 2011 questionnaire and return it in the enclosed prepaid envelope as soon as possible. The survey is completely confidential.
