| Invitation to ONS Seminar on the productivity
puzzle – 16th October, Regus offices, Victoria, London SW1 |
| The Office for National Statistics will hold a
seminar on 16th October to examine aspects of the 'productivity puzzle,
including the relationship between GDP and the labour market. |
| The seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss
possible explanations for the puzzle, look at recent trends in output and
employment, and consider the challenges presented in measuring movements in the
economy and labour market.
The seminar follows a paper by ONS Chief Economist
Joe Grice in August 2012 which set out some of the issues behind the puzzle. |

| The Release of Official Statistics
|
| The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) has launched an
inquiry into arrangements for communicating and publishing official
statistics. |
| The Statistics Users’ Forum – on which the Society of Business
Economists is represented - will be responding to this, and is looking
to gather views from a wide range of users of official statistics on
this important topic. |
| You can contribute by completing our
online survey, and we are particularly interested in specific examples that
will add weight to views.
|
| You can discuss and share your views in the
Statistics User Forum discussion area, where you will also find initial
thoughts on the key points to make in a response. |
