puzzle – 16th October, Regus offices, Victoria, London SW1
|The Office for National Statistics will hold a
seminar on 16th October to examine aspects of the 'productivity puzzle,
including the relationship between GDP and the labour market.
|The seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss
possible explanations for the puzzle, look at recent trends in output and
employment, and consider the challenges presented in measuring movements in the
economy and labour market.
The seminar follows a paper by ONS Chief Economist
Joe Grice in August 2012 which set out some of the issues behind the puzzle.
